IMPD is investigating a police shooting that happened Friday afternoon on the East Side of Indianapolis. The deadly shooting took place at the Job Rowney Terrace Apartment complex. Police released a report at 3 p.m. March 28 of a man being shot in the 1300 block of Riley Place, which is near Prospect Street and Emerson Avenue.

After police officers arrived on the scene, they found a man shot inside an apartment. Medics have declared that man dead. Police also found a man outside the apartment who was injured. Medics pumped him into the hospital in critical condition and started his treatment.

IMPD Chief Chris Bailey said the witness gave police officers a description of the suspect, and then frisked him as he was leaving the scene. While investigating, police saw a man near Prospect Street and Emerson Avenue who matched the suspect’s description.
Bailey said police asked the suspect to show his hands, but the man took a gun out of his sweatshirt pocket and was pointing it at police. At that very time, police shot the suspect, injuring him. Bailey said this is the condition of that man.
